Support Through Every Step Of Your Contested Divorce
What are you afraid of? If you're facing a contested divorce, the honest answer is probably "a lot." Maybe it's losing time with your kids. Maybe it's wondering how you'll stay financially afloat, or whether you can still provide for your family. Maybe it's the feeling that everything is being decided for you, and you have no say in what happens next.
And if your spouse is making accusations about your character or your parenting that you know aren't fair, that fear can feel even heavier.
Whatever is keeping you up at night, you're not wrong to feel it, and you don't have to carry it alone.
As Phoenix contested divorce attorneys, we help people navigate that uncertainty and regain a sense of direction.
This kind of case places some of the most important parts of your life into a legal process you may know very little about and then asks you to trust a lawyer to help you through it. We don't take that trust lightly. Our clients are placing significant responsibility in our hands at a time when they may already be dealing with betrayal, conflict, or circumstances that have shaken their sense of stability.
Kedia Law supports you with a strategy built around what matters most to you.
No attorney can control every outcome. What we can do is understand your situation, help you see what the law can and cannot do, and work with you on a strategy that fits your case. That may center on your goals, on your children's best interests, or on both, depending on what the facts and the court's priorities call for.

When You Don't Know What to Do, and You Don't Know Your Rights, Call Us.
One of the biggest problems people face at the beginning of a contested divorce is simply not knowing what to do. They may not understand their rights, what the other spouse can legally do, what a judge is likely to consider important, or what steps they should take next.
We start by listening and asking questions. We want to understand not only what happened, but what matters most to the client and what they ultimately hope to accomplish. That allows us to explain the law in the context of the client’s actual life rather than simply giving them a list of legal rules.
From there, we work to develop a clear legal strategy. We identify the issues that need attention, explain the client’s options and rights, discuss the evidence that may be needed, and establish a direction for moving the case forward.
That strategy is not set in stone. Divorce litigation involves people, families, finances, and circumstances that can change while a case is pending. New evidence may emerge. Positions may change. Opportunities for resolution may develop. Life does what it always does: it changes. Good legal strategy sometimes requires us to pivot with it.
Our goal is for clients to understand not only what we recommend doing, but why. Having a strategy does not mean knowing exactly how every part of a contested divorce will unfold. It means having a direction, making informed decisions as circumstances develop, and knowing what we are working toward.
Knowing When To Fight And When To Negotiate
A contested divorce does not mean that every issue needs to become a battle. One of the most important things we do is help clients decide which fights are worth having.
We are prepared to litigate when our client wants to take a position and there is evidence and a good-faith legal argument to support it. Sometimes the other party simply will not negotiate. Sometimes a proposed settlement does not adequately protect what matters to our client. And sometimes we believe the other side is using the negotiation process to create delay, increase legal fees, exert pressure, or avoid having an issue decided. Depending on the circumstances and the client’s resources, going to court may be the better path.
But we are equally willing to tell a client when we believe a fight is unlikely to advance their goals.
Divorce litigation is already expensive. We do not want clients spending money pursuing positions that are unsupported by the evidence or law, particularly when doing so could also expose them to a claim for the other party’s attorney fees. We discuss those risks candidly and encourage clients to remain open to reasonable opportunities for settlement.
There is no formula for deciding whether to negotiate or litigate. We consider the evidence, the law, the client’s goals, the other party’s conduct, the likelihood of resolution, the financial cost of continuing, and what is at stake. Sometimes the right advice is to compromise. Sometimes it is to keep negotiating. And sometimes it is time to stop negotiating and ask the court to decide.
Our job is to help our clients understand the difference.
Navigating High-Conflict Issues And Expectations
Some contested divorces involve genuinely difficult issues: allegations of domestic violence, disputes involving businesses or retirement assets, spousal maintenance, or significant disagreements over legal decision-making and parenting time.
Sometimes the dispute is about the facts. Other times, the conflict comes from expectations that may not align with the evidence or with how the court is likely to evaluate the issue.
This can be particularly important when children are involved. A parent may sincerely believe the other parent should have no parenting time, supervised parenting time, or a limited role in legal decision-making. We take those concerns seriously while also evaluating whether the available evidence supports the requested outcome.
Parents can also understandably approach a custody dispute by focusing on who they believe is the “better parent.” But that is not necessarily the question the court is being asked to decide. We help clients understand how Arizona courts evaluate children’s best interests, what evidence is legally significant, and what may be necessary to justify significant restrictions on another parent’s role.
We also counsel clients about how their own decisions during litigation may affect their case. Divorce and custody litigation can be extraordinarily emotional. We do not ask clients to disregard those feelings. We help them understand how the court may evaluate the situation so they can make informed choices about how they respond to conflict and navigate a changing co-parenting relationship.

How Kedia Law Stands With You Through Every Stage of a Contested Divorce
We start by listening. Before we build a strategy, we need to understand what happened, what concerns you, and what you ultimately want your life to look like once the litigation is over.
We look at the case from every angle. We don't evaluate a dispute only from your point of view. We consider how your spouse may characterize the issue, what arguments opposing counsel may raise, what the evidence actually establishes, where the weaknesses may be, and how a judge is likely to view the facts.
We build a strategy around your goals, the evidence, and the law — and we explain it to you, because we want you to understand not just what we recommend, but why.
We stay ready to adapt. New evidence emerges. Circumstances change. Negotiations progress or stall. Positions evolve. We keep evaluating the case as it develops and pivot when it's necessary.
We keep you inside the process, not removed from it — because a case that profoundly affects your life shouldn't feel like something happening around you instead of with you.
The lawyer brings knowledge of the law, procedure, evidence, and litigation strategy. You bring knowledge of your life, your family, and what matters most. Good representation requires both.
Why Phoenix Residents Choose Kedia Law For Contested Divorce Cases
Clients facing contested divorce need more than someone willing to fight. They need an attorney who can evaluate what is worth fighting for, understand what they are ultimately trying to accomplish, give them honest advice about the strengths and weaknesses of their case, and develop a strategy that makes sense within the context of their life.
Our philosophy is that law is one of many tools available to solve life’s important problems. When someone comes to us for a divorce or family-law matter, they rarely have only a legal problem. They have a life problem with legal issues woven through it.
Our role is to understand the legal problem in the context of the client’s life, understand what they are trying to accomplish, give them an honest assessment of the law, evidence, risks, costs, and available options, and help them make the decisions that are right for them.
Honest Case Advice, Even When It Is Difficult To Hear
We believe our clients deserve honest advice, including when that advice is not what they hoped to hear.
That may mean telling a client that we believe a position is unreasonable, that their evidence is not as strong as they think it is, that a judge may not view something the way they do, that pursuing an issue may cost more than it is worth, or that accepting a reasonable settlement may serve them better than continuing to litigate.
We can understand why something feels deeply unfair, upsetting, or important to a client while also advising them that the legal response they are considering may not help their case or accomplish what they ultimately want.
We also challenge our clients’ assumptions. If a client believes the evidence strongly supports a position and we do not see it yet, we say so and ask more questions. Sometimes that process uncovers evidence the client did not realize was relevant or had forgotten about. Other times, it helps the client recognize a weakness and make a more informed decision about compromise.
We would rather give a client candid advice than continue accepting their money to pursue litigation we do not believe is justified.
Our Clients Understand And Participate In Their Case
Contested litigation can leave people feeling removed from decisions that have an enormous impact on their own lives. We work hard to communicate with and educate our clients throughout the process.
We want clients to understand what is happening, why we are recommending a particular course of action, what their options are, what the financial and legal consequences of those options may be, and what considerations could affect the outcome.
We believe knowledge gives clients greater agency in the legal process. Our goal is not simply to manage a case for our clients. It is to develop a thoughtful legal strategy with them, make sure they understand that strategy, and give them the information and advice they need to make informed decisions as their case evolves.

What You Should Expect When Working With Our Team
A client working with Kedia Law should expect to be an informed participant in their case.
We begin by listening and asking questions so that we understand both the legal dispute and what the client is ultimately trying to accomplish. We explain the applicable law and help the client understand which facts and evidence may matter to the court.
We then develop a strategy based on the client’s goals, the law, the evidence, the risks involved, and the resources available. We explain our recommendations and the reasoning behind them rather than expecting a client to simply follow instructions without understanding why.
As the case progresses, we continue evaluating the strategy. Litigation is dynamic. Evidence may change our assessment. The other party may take a new position. A settlement opportunity may arise. An issue that once appeared important may become less important, while another may require greater attention.
We also continually return to what the client has told us matters to them.
Many clients initially tell us they want a “fair” outcome. Fairness can have both objective and deeply personal components. Part of our role is understanding what fairness means to that particular client.
For example, a parent may tell us that preserving the children’s relationship with the other parent is important while simultaneously expressing serious concerns about overnight parenting time. Rather than simply treating those positions as inconsistent, we try to understand what is driving the concern. If the concern is that a young child will not have an appropriate place to sleep, perhaps the other parent providing a crib or appropriate sleeping space addresses it.
We can then discuss whether that practical solution addresses the client’s concern while also aligning with the larger goal they identified: preserving the child’s relationship with both parents and developing a workable co-parenting relationship.
We do not ask clients to disregard what they feel or what concerns them. We listen to those concerns, examine them in light of the facts and law, explore practical solutions when appropriate, and continually return to the goals the client has told us matter most.
The decisions ultimately belong to the client. Our role as legal counselors is to give them the perspective, information, advocacy, and advice necessary to make those decisions intentionally.
